Compression Molding by REDCO
Compression molding is the simplest form of processing. It generally incorporates a two-piece, clamshell style, steel mold.
The mold is machined to encapsulate the shape of the desired part. The unvulcanized rubber compound is placed into each cavity. The mold is closed and placed under heat and pressure by the hydraulic press.
The rubber flows through and fills the cavity. At a predetermined time and temperature the rubber vulcanizes. The mold is then opened and the product is extracted.
At REDCO, we utilize the techniques of compression and transfer molding in hydraulically operated, heated-platen presses.
